The Valdosta Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) has canceled its December 16, 2021 meeting. The next regularly scheduled PAAC meeting will take place on Thursday, January 20, 2022.
The purpose of PAAC is to further the purchase, creation and appreciation of public art for its aesthetic value to the community. The PAAC also encourages the preservation and protection of works of public art which play a vital role in the economic development of the community.
PAAC meets on the third Thursday of each month, and meetings are open to the public. For more information about the PAAC, call 229.247.2787.
The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts is honored to present BACH to the Future – the Bach that Rocks, Tuesday, December 7, 7-9pm. The concert takes place in the Turner Center Art Galleries, 527 N. Patterson St., Valdosta.
BACH to the Future brings a whimsical approach to the classics led by chart-topping pianist Michael Silverman. The group performs classical music with cutting-edge instruments and a unique twist on the genre. All four musicians are world renowned performers, best-selling authors, and highly acclaimed composers. Read More

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts’ Gallery Opening Reception on Monday, November 8, from 5-7 p.m., features artists Harry and Suzanne Ally, “The Artist and the Muse”; Trevor T. Dunn, “If the River was Fire”; and features the Third Annual Regional Artist Community (RAC) Group Exhibition. A local book premiere and sale spotlighting “How Faith, Family & Football Shaped the Life of Rusty Grif-fin” is also scheduled. The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts is accepting nominations for the Lena Bosch Lifetime Achievement Award. This inaugural award will recognize individuals who have exhibited outstanding, creative, innovative and visionary leadership in the growth and advancement of the arts in our community through involvement with the Turner Center.
The award was established in 2020 to recognize Bosch’s lifetime of contributions to the Lowndes/Valdosta Arts Commission (LVAC), the Turner Center, and to the overall arts community. Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2022. Read More
The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts has been awarded a Cultural Facilities Grant by the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
The GCA received 39 Cultural Facilities Grant applications from arts organizations and municipal arts facilities across the state. The Turner Center was one of only 10 entities in nine counties statewide that received a grant through the 2022 program. Read More
