Proposed Class and/or Workshop Details:
This is where you will provide details on the regular class or special workshop that you want to offer the community. You may list details for more than one suggestion at a time.
Please write at least 4 sentences per class or workshop you are proposing about the class and style you want to teach.
Fees and Pay:
On average, instructors at the Turner Center for the Arts are paid on a per-student basis. For each student, the instructor keeps 70% and the Turner Center keeps 30% of the class/workshop fee.
Please list any required supplies, as well as whether you recommend they be purchased by the student or provided by the Turner Center. Please also include a cost estimate with each item.
The Turner Center is responsible for notifying the instructor at least 24 hours in advance of a class/program if the need to cancel arises from circumstances including, but not limited to, a weather crisis, facility issues, holiday, or lack of registrees. The instructor also agrees to alert the Turner Center at least 24 hours in advance of a need for them to cancel a class/program. The instructor also agrees to cancel only due to special circumstances such as illness, a personal or family emergency, or otherwise unresolvable issues.
Turner Center Responsibilities
The Turner Center will provide studio space, marketing for the class/program, control registration, and maintain sign-up and payment procedures. The Turner Center will also pay the instructor according to the above agreed upon schedule. If the Turner Center is providing supplies for this class, they will be obtained before class/program times so long as a minimum of one week’s notice of the need is given and the supplies have been approved by the Turner Center.
The instructor will be prepared to teach class in a professional manner, which includes arriving a minimum of 30 minutes before class to ensure proper setup (or more if more time is needed), staying until each attendee has left, and remaining afterwards to clean up the studio space and restore it to the condition in which it was found. The instructor may, and is encouraged to, distribute information about the class(es) being taught, so long as it is done in a respectful manner in regards to this partnership with the Turner Center and holds to our standards. The instructor must keep a record of attendees and at least one (preferably two) forms of contact for them per class, either on a paper sign-up sheet or digitally. This allows the Turner Center to verify payment was received and pay the instructor accurately and in a timely manner. The instructor agrees to provide any supplies needed for teaching, unless the Turner Center providing them was previously discussed and approved. The instructor consents to a background check and will provide a short biography of four to ten sentences that the Turner Center can use to feature the instructor on the website (turnercenter.org) and/or social media when promoting the program. The instructor may also be asked to provide a professional headshot, or allow the Turner Center to take one.
