The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts presents Heather Frederick and The Wiregrass All-Stars for a live Music in the Art Park concert on Fri., Oct. 9, from 7-9 p.m. in the Art Park, located at 605 N. Patterson St. The concert, sponsored by Cheryl Oliver, Jeani Synyard and Mala Vallotton, is open to the public.
Heather Frederick & The Wiregrass All-Stars consists of Heather on lead vocals, supported by Jerry Newman on guitar and vocals, Pat Buchanan on guitar and vocals, Jared Johnson on bass and vocals, Tim Teasley on keyboards, and Billy Bruce on drums and vocals.
Heather has blazed a path with her bluesy, powerful “Aretha Franklin” styled approach to singing that has made her reputation grow with standout performances at many local and regional venues. Jerry Newman has decades of music-making history in this region and beyond. His vast repertoire has contributed to The Wiregrass All-Stars’ success at building recurring sold out shows. Pat Buchanan, whose exploits as an in-demand Nashville session guitarist and touring musician are well known, brings a level of professionalism to any stage he steps on. He has toured with Hall & Oates, Cyndi Lauper, Amy Grant, Rodney Crowell and recorded with a long list of artists including the late Dolly Parton and Ray Davies of The Kinks. Jared Johnson may best be known for his time in the popular local band Blues Factor, but he also has graced about every stage in this area with duos, trios and other bands, playing guitar, bass and providing quality vocals. Jared will be playing bass for the All-Stars’ show. Tim Teasley has been playing music in this area since the late 1960s. Skannyyardle may be a familiar name on his long resume, and he is also known as a member of the group 2South. Billy Bruce has been playing drums in Valdosta since 1968. He runs his own Links Studios in Hahira where he’s released seven albums of original songs with more on the way. Bruce provides the beat foundation for The Wiregrass All-Stars.
Community members are invited to bring their blankets and lawn chairs to this family and pet-friendly event to relax in the park and enjoy the music. The food and beverage vendor is Jessie’s Restaurant & Catering.
The Music in the Art Park concerts take place on the second Friday of each month, June through November, feature local musicians, and are always free to the public.
