Turner Center Acquires Property to Build Children’s Art Museum in 2022
By Sementha Mathews Blog, NewsThe Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts has acquired the former Synovus Bank property near Downtown Valdosta, expanding the Center’s campus located on Webster Street, from N. Patterson Street to N. Ashley Street. The acquisition, made official in March 2021 through a donation from Dan and Carolyn Coleman, adds three properties to the Turner Center’s campus including the former bank building at 512 N. Ashley Street, a building at 506 N. Ashley Street, and a parking lot adjacent to the current Turner Center main parking lot. Read More

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts is preparing for its largest fine art show and sale of the year, on display from April 12-June 9. The 34th annual Spring Into Art exhibition will feature nearly 500 fine artworks in various mediums from over 200 artists statewide. Read More
The Valdosta Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) will host their next monthly meeting on Thursday, March 18, at 11:30 a.m. In order to practice physical distancing, this public meeting will be held in the Josette’s Gallery of the Turner Center for the Arts, located at 527 N. Harlee Webb was promoted to the full-time position of Art Education Administrator for the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts, effective February 2021.
Webb began her career at the Turner Center as a part-time employee, while she was an art student at the Valdosta State University. Webb received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education degree from Valdosta State University in December 2020. In her new position at the Turner Center, Webb is responsible for overseeing the Center’s Art Education Program, all classes, and all art outreach for the community.
“Harlee passionately seeks and utilizes a myriad of resources to serve our community with the arts,” said Turner Center Executive Director Sementha Mathews. “Her excitement is contagious. As our campus grows, we look forward to Harlee’s ability to grow the Art Education Program and increase our reach across the populations we serve.”
