Turner Center for the Arts and the Meta Shaw Coleman Children’s Imagination Station Offer Youth Summer Art and STEAM Camps

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts announces its youth summer art camps available for ages 5-18, with two-day, three-day, four-day and full week options. All summer camps take place on the Turner Center Campus and are designed to interject imagination and creativity into the summer months. Spots in each camp are limited.

TURNER CENTER ART CAMPS

  • May 27 & 28: Summer in the Swamp! Ages 6-12. Young artists will discover the beauty of ponds and wetlands in this 2-day summer art camp. Instructors: Annette Crosby, Christine Cabral, Nancy Crombie
  • June 1-4: Stars & Stripes. Ages 5-12. Stars, stripes, and creativity collide in this fun-filled art camp that explores a variety of artistic techniques while creating projects inspired by the spirit, landscapes, and culture of America! Instructors: Debra Kantelis, Anita Gillis
  • June 1-4: Foundations of Video Production. Ages 13-18. This camp is an introduction to videography for filmmakers and video hobbyists who want to build their filmmaking skills. Instructor: Steven Heddon
  • June 8-10: Camp MESSY! Ages 5-12. In this wildly creative camp, kids will splatter, swirl, drip, and design their way through exciting art projects that celebrate imagination and hands-on fun. Instructors: Debra Kantelis, Hunter Pope

FUSION CAMPS – these camps combine the Turner Center and Imagination Station

  • June 22-25: Lights*Camera*Action. Ages 5-12. Fuse science and art to explore the world of production and design with characters, sets, and brand-new filming equipment in the Imagination Station. Instructors: Simon, Debra Kantelis, Hunter Pope
  • July 13-16: Rooted in Art. Ages 5-12. This camp will focus on Georgia’s agriculture, and students will explore creative techniques that use nature as a medium to create beautiful works of art. Instructors: Hunter Pope, Simon

IMAGINATION STATION STEAM CAMPS

Full-Day Camps – 10am-3pm each day, for ages 5-7. Our week-long themed day camps are designed to inspire curiosity and creativity in budding scientists, aspiring artists, or future engineers all summer long.
Dates: June 15-19, June 22-26, July 6-10, July 13-17, July 20-24, and July 27-31.


Half-Day Camps for Little Explorers – 10am-1pm each day, for ages 5-7

  • June 15-18 – Super Sleuths: Channel your inner detectives as we learn how to use science to solve mysteries. 
  • July 6-9 – Sound Studio: Come explore the science of sound, learn how sound moves, build instruments, and create music!
  • July 20- 23 – Coding Crew: Take your first step into the world of robotics and technology and become code-busting experts without ever using a computer.
  • July 27- 20 – Storybook Engineers: Campers will solve engineering challenges inspired by popular stories, such as The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Half-Day Camps for Big Explorers – 2-5pm each day, for ages 8-12

  • June 15-18 – CSI at CIS: Sharpen your investigation and observation skills with an introduction to forensic science.
  • July 6-9 – Music Makers: Unleash your inner musician! Campers will experiment with rhythm, compose lyrics, design their own instruments, and so much more!
  • July 20- 23 – Bytes & Bots:  Join us as we explore the foundations of robotics and coding! Campers will work in teams to program robots and solve creative challenges using our Sphero Indi cars.
  • July 27-30 – Design for Good: Young innovators will combine their creativity and engineering skills to brainstorm, design, and build their own helpful inventions.
