The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts will present BACH to the Future – Tuesday, November 19, from 7-9pm, at the Turner Center for the Arts, 527 N. Patterson St., Valdosta. Tickets are $25/ea at the door.

BACH to the Future, led by chart-topping pianist Michael Silverman, takes classical music into the modern age! Imagine the classics – Bach, Beethoven, Mozart – performed in exciting new ways… modern jazz, African, and Latin rhythms. BACK to the Future brings an exciting, whimsical approach to the most beloved music of all time, and some of the most interesting cutting-edge instruments you’ll ever see. All members are world renowned performers, best-selling authors, and highly acclaimed composers. This is a show you won’t want to miss!

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts is accepting nominations for the Lena Bosch Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes individuals who have exhibited outstanding, creative, innovative, and visionary leadership in the growth and advancement of the arts in our community through involvement with the Turner Center.

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts will host the 7th annual ARToberfest. The festival observes National Arts & Humanities Month, celebrates the talent of local and regional artists, and highlights the arts’ remarkable impact on community life. ARToberfest will take place on Sat., Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Turner Center Art Park, located at 605 N. Patterson St. The event is free and open to the public.

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts will host a gallery opening reception on Mon., Sept. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., at 527 N. Patterson Street. The galleries will feature the works of Victor Bokas, “Eye Candy,” Annie B. Campbell, “Degrees of Dissonance,” and the National Association of Women Artist, “By Heart.” Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.

In partnership with Valdosta State University’s Family Weekend, the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts will host 2RiverStation for a live Music in the Art Park concert on Friday, Sept. 13 from 7-9 p.m. in the Turner Center Art Park, located at 605 N. Patterson St. The live concert, sponsored by BRD Valdosta and VSU’s Student Life, is free to the public.

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts has announced its 2024-2025 SCORE Music Appreciation Concert series, which will kick off with world-renowned pianist Julian Gargiulo, on Tues., Sept. 10, at 7pm. Gargiulo is a classical pianist, composer, and humorist who performs all over the world, from prestigious venues from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Singapore’s Symphony Stage and beyond. He has been featured on radio and TV stations in North America, Europe, and Asia, and most recently on BBC Radio 3 in London. Gargiulo was named a Steinway Artist in 2014.

In celebration of National Clean Up Month, Turner Center for the Arts is hosting a campus beautification day on Saturday, September 7, from 7am – Noon. Check-in is at the main Turner Center Galleries, 527 N. Patterson Street.

Some of the projects include general area cleanup, trash removal, tree-brush cleanup, trim hanging branches and general landscaping. Every pair of hands makes a difference, so your contribution is greatly appreciated whether you can join us for the entire duration or just for a short while. In addition to the clean-up, lunch will be served to our volunteers.

The Center will feature the works of Sherry Allen, “Wildlife Encounters,” Natalia Andreeva, “Vivid Visions: Capturing Life’s Beauty,” Teresa Cook, “See Jacksonville x Valdosta,” and the re-installation of the East African Artifact Permanent Collection. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts will host country/rock band Naturally Southern (2023 Georgia Country Awards Band of the Year and 2023 Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame)for a live Music in the Art Park concert on Fri., June 14 from 7-9 p.m. in the Art Park located at 605 N. Patterson St. The concert, sponsored by Greater Valdosta United Way, is free to the public.

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts will hold the Artists’ Lecture Series on Wednesday, June 5, from 5 to 7 p.m., at 527 N. Patterson Street. The lecture features award winners of Spring Into Art 2024.
