The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts is set to host Canadian rock guitarist Ariel Posen at the Turner Center Art Park, 605 North Patterson Street, on Fri., April 26, 2024, beginning at 7pm. The concert is the seventh of 10 free, live performances in the 2024 Levitt AMP Valdosta Music Series, sponsored by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation and the Price-Campbell Foundation.
Posen is an internationally recognized rock-and-roll artist, touted by Rolling Stone as a “modern-day guitar hero.” Posen is a lifelong musician who has toured and recorded with numerous artists, including the Juno Award-winning folk band The Bros. Landreth. He was voted by MusicRadar readers as one of the ten best rock guitarists in the world, alongside industry icons like Tom Morello, Slash, and John Mayer, in 2019. 2019 also saw the release of Posen’s debut album How Long, which Michael Ross of Guitar Player magazine praised as “[maybe] the best singer-songwriter guitar album a tone hound ever released.” Ross has also called Posen “the complete package: a great singer and songwriter, as well as a virtuoso guitarist.” Since then, Posen has released two more albums: Headway, released in 2021, and Reasons Why, released in 2023.
Posen proclaims that his music “occupies the space between genres. It’s a rootsy sound that nods to his influences — heartland rock & roll, electrified Americana, blue-eyed soul, R&B, Beatles-inspired pop — while still moving forward, pushing Posen into territory that’s uniquely his own.”
