PAAC Hosts April 15 Meeting at Turner Center

The Valdosta Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) will host their next monthly meeting on Thursday, April 15, at 11:30 a.m. This public meeting will be held in the Price-Campbell Gallery of the Turner Center for the Arts, located at 527 N. Patterson Street.

The purpose of PAAC is to further the purchase, creation and appreciation of public art for its aesthetic value to the community. The PAAC also encourages the preservation and protection of works of public art which play a vital role in the economic development of the community.

PAAC meets on the third Thursday of each month, and meetings are open to the public. For more information about the PAAC, call 229.247.2787.

Coffee & Canvas Class at the Turner Center

Join the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts to sip a cup of joe and create a work of art. Coffee & Canvas is a beginner acrylic painting class for adults ages 18 and up. Classes begin on April 7 from 10 a.m.-noon in the Art Annex located at 601 N. Patterson Street and will take place on the first Wednesday of each month thereafter. Read More

Turner Center Acquires Property to Build Children’s Art Museum in 2022

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts has acquired the former Synovus Bank property near Downtown Valdosta, expanding the Center’s campus located on Webster Street, from N. Patterson Street to N. Ashley Street. The acquisition, made official in March 2021 through a donation from Dan and Carolyn Coleman, adds three properties to the Turner Center’s campus including the former bank building at 512 N. Ashley Street, a building at 506 N. Ashley Street, and a parking lot adjacent to the current Turner Center main parking lot. Read More
