The Lowndes-Valdosta Arts Commission (LVAC) was awarded a $15,000 grant on behalf of the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts. The grant was awarded by Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, as part of its initial disbursement of grants for fiscal year 2022. A total of 218 organizations were awarded 266 grants that provide more than $2 million in funding to arts organizations throughout the state. Read More

The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts awarded Cheryl Carvajal with the 2021 Art Educator of the Year award at the Gallery Opening Reception on June 14.

Carvajal began teaching at the Turner Center in 2019, where she was instrumental in helping the Turner Center launch a new writing program for youth ages 11-18. The Young Writers League (YoWL) was designed to inspire and guide young writers and encourage them toward authorship. Read More

Hundreds gathered on April 12 for the 34th Annual Spring Into Art Gala, hosted by the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts. The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts has acquired the former Synovus Bank property near Downtown Valdosta, expanding the Center’s campus located on Webster Street, from N. Patterson Street to N. Ashley Street. The acquisition, made official in March 2021 through a donation from Dan and Carolyn Coleman, adds three properties to the Turner Center’s campus including the former bank building at 512 N. Ashley Street, a building at 506 N. Ashley Street, and a parking lot adjacent to the current Turner Center main parking lot. Read More
