The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts will host the 2024 Turner Center Literary Fair on Sat., Sept. 14, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Turner Center Galleries, located at 527 N. Patterson Street, in Valdosta. The Literary Fair will spotlight free ongoing literary art offerings available at the Turner Center, as well as the work of local and regional authors.

Local authors Cheryl Carvajal, Roy Copeland, Janice Daugharty, Janet Holsapple-Hattermann, Trent Bush, Bill Stone, and Dr. Marty Williams will give authors talks throughout the event on a variety of topics, including “Finding Your Writing Magic” and “Keeping Family History Alive.” Regional authors Roberta George, Gill Autrey, Brandi Bradley, Mike Brown, Steve Ekstrom, Phyliss Hoyt, Mary Anne Lonze Kennedy, Sandy Malone, O. Victor Miller, Javonda Robinson, Sheila Thomas, and Melvin Wakeley will also participate in the event.

Youth activities will include a video reading from Malcom Mitchell and a giveaway of 75 copies of one of his books to the first 75 youth/families at the reading, as well as an interactive table from South Georgia Regional Library featuring a story cube. The Turner Center will announce the 5th Annual Art of Writing Contest, which will award $2,500 in cash prizes to area middle and high school students. Free bookmarks and other resources will be available for all ages.
