Jill Bright lives on a farm near her native town of Hahira, Georgia, where the land shapes my creativity.
Her interest in art began with photography, which she still enjoys. Her first entry in Valdosta’s Spring into Art” exhibition earned an award of Merit for her photograph of Nutt, her Brittany Spaniel.
Jill is a lifelong nature lover, and like most artist -” I paint my surroundings, focusing on the pets, livestock, and rural landscapes that shape my daily life. Early inspiration came from childhood walks in the woods with my grandmother, discovering hidden wonders like the wild pitcher plants. Those memories continue to influence my work as I create pieces that honor the quiet beauty of rural life in the south.”
On the difference between painting wildlife and people, Jill says, “I found that I like painting expressions, whether an animal or a person; it begins with the eyes.”
Her other interest include cooking, skeet shooting, and social and duplicate bridge.
