Artist-in-Residence Marty Haythorn Conducts Five
Community Open Lab Workshops
Artist Marty Haythorn is seeking community help in completing the mosaic work for a public art planter that will be placed in downtown Valdosta.
1. Thursday, August 6, 6:00-9:00 pm – Underglaze Painting and Tile Construction in the Hudson Building, 104 Webster Street.
2. Saturday August 8, 9:00 am-1:00 pm – Underglaze Painting and Tile Construction in the Hudson Building, 104 Webster Street.
3. Wednesday August 12, 6:00-9:00 pm – Creating the Mosaic, 601 Building, second floor Studio B on the Corner of Webster and Patterson Streets.
4. Thursday August 13, 6:00-9:00 pm – Creating the Mosaic, 601 Building, second floor Studio B on the Corner of Webster and Patterson Streets.
5. Saturday August 15, 9:00 am-1:00 pm – Creating the Mosaic, 601 Building, second floor Studio B on the Corner of Webster and Patterson Streets.
Anyone interested in these processes and who would like to assist the artist in creating this public art mural is invited to come help him! You can also simply drop by and observe the artist at work.
Come and be a part of the public art landscape in Valdosta!
Attendees should wear work clothes or bring aprons. Please arrive promptly at the beginning of the studio
time if you wish to help with the tile carving or any other hands-on activities. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
