Fiber Arts Class – Slow Stitching

Offered the 4th Saturday of each month | 10am-1pm
Slow stitching is an unrestricted method of needlework or hand sewing that resembles traditional quilting or embroidery. Sewing with your hands is the focus here, with an emphasis on the act of sewing itself and the resulting sense of calm. Users can relax as they experience the soothing sensation of the fabric, find a rhythm in pulling stitches, and fully immerse themselves in the moment. During this class we will review the basics of slow stitching. Using this needlework as a foundation, you can experiment with different techniques to create art that is truly your own. The stitching takes on a meditative quality as a result of the repetition of basic movements? The objective of this activity is to use thread, fabric scraps, and a needle to make your own work of slow stitching to add to your Fiber Art Journal. Kits will be provided with lots of fabric, trim, beads, sequins, doilies, lace, and ribbon – please bring your own scissors.
