The focus of this workshop is a blending of traditional and contemporary potter. Many ceramic artists today are exploring techniques that were used in the distant past. They are combining the old with the contemporary and discovering new avenues of creative expression in clay. This class will cover bas-relief, engraving, terra sig, and burnishing. It will culminate with a pit-fire using ceramic coloring chemicals in the firing, referred to by some as “painting with flames” on Saturday June 21, 2014 behind the Hudson Building.
