Do I need to bring any supplies with me?
All supplies will be provided unless otherwise specified during class registration.

How do I dress for classes?
You must wear closed-toe shoes – otherwise, dress in comfortable clothing that you don’t mind looking just as artistic as your creation by the end of class.

Can I take my creation home the same day as my class?
Creations from most of our programs can be taken home the same day of the class. Exceptions apply to all creations made in ceramics and glass classes. Creations from the ceramics classes take four to six weeks to be fired and held for pickup, on average. Creations from glass art classes take three to five days to be fired and held for pickup, on average. Students will receive an email and/or a call from the Turner Center when creations are ready for pickup. Creations will only be held for 90 days after this notice, after which they will become property of the Turner Center.

Am I eligible for a discount code, and how do I use it?
Enter your code in the blank found at the end of a class registration form. Contact [email protected] to get your military, student, or member code if you do not have it already. Codes cannot be combined. Codes must be requested before payment is received and applied during the registration process.

  • Military discount codes are valid for active duty persons and veterans with a verifiable ID or other equivalent paperwork.
  • Student discount codes apply to persons ages 16+ enrolled in high school and/or in a higher education institution with a verifiable ID, teacher reference for homeschoolers without an ID card, or other equivalent paperwork.
  • Member discount codes apply to the person whose name the membership is in, as well as to their children and grandchildren under 18. All spouses, other family members, and children or grandchildren over the age of 18 are responsible for their own memberships and according member discount codes. Memberships must meet the minimum $100 contribution required for the “Friend” level to be eligible for this discount.

Where is my class located?
The facility (and its address) for each class is included on each class registration form and confirmation email. Classes may occur outside of normal office and/or gallery hours. The addresses for each of the Turner Center’s facilities are located in Valdosta, Ga. with a 31601 zip code, and as follows:

  • Galleries/Offices – 527 N. Patterson St.

Can I get a refund if I missed my class?
We require two business days (Mon.-Fri.) notice to issue a refund or transfer a class. For camps, special workshops, and all classes, workshops, and camps at maximum capacity, a refund or transfer may or may not be given, regardless of the amount of notice given, due to high demand. Refunds or transfers can only be approved by the Art Education Administrator or Executive Director.

What happens if my class is cancelled?
Classes are rarely cancelled by the Turner Center – however, in the event of failure to reach minimum student count, severe weather, etc. resulting in a cancellation, you will be contacted by the phone number and email address you share during registration with options for a refund and/or transfer.

Are scholarships for classes available?
Scholarships are given on a case-by-case basis according to need. The majority of scholarship funds are reserved for youth under the age of 18, however, adults ages 18 and older will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. You can apply for a scholarship for yourself or on behalf of a child under the age of 18 here.

Are there group rates for opportunities such as birthday parties and team building exercises?
If you are interested in setting up a group event with us, please fill out our private class interest form here. Interest forms will be forwarded to all instructors for a given class or program area to determine both facility and instructor availability. A Turner Center staff member will reply by phone or email to the contact information listed on the completed form after communicating with the instructors.

Can I bring my own clay, glaze, and glass for ceramics and glass art classes?
All clay, glazes, and glass materials used must be provided by the Turner Center, unless they are approved as kiln safe by the Turner Center’s Lead Instructor & Studio Manager (Ramiro Santillan, Ceramics) (Emma Kostopolus, Glass). Using non-Turner Center approved materials may destroy equipment and impact the overall program.

Can I view more information about the instructor for a class?
Information about each of our instructors and assistants, including artistic qualifications and bios, is available here.
