Summer Camp 2022

CAMP 3 | July 11-15 | Ages 5-12
Theme: Where the Wild Things Are

 

Camp Leader: Tisa Newbury
Parents will check-in student each morning at the main facility with the Camp Leader.
Students will be responsible for bringing lunch.
Cost: $240 – Turner Center Member / $250 – non-member
Cost is for the week. No single classes allowed. Must be paid in full before camp begins.
MONDAY, JULY 11
10am-12pm: Culinary Class
Campers will learn to use tools in the kitchen including cutting, mixing and more
12-1pm: Lunch w/movie
1-2pm: Paper Mâché Sail Boats
Campers will learn how to work with glue mix and newspapers to create layers and form a sail boat using a base.
2-3pm: Painted Castles
Campers will design and paint their own castles using a variety of box shapes to cute and glue together.
TUESDAY, JULY 12
10-11am: Pottery Clay Leaf Bowls
Campers will learn how to hand build, cut and score bowls using clay and scoring techniques.
11am-12pm: Pottery Glazing Bowls
Campers will learn how to apply glazes to their bowls.
12-1pm: Lunch w/movie
1-2pm: Torn Paper Creatures
Campers will learn how to cut and tear paper to create their very own “Wild Thing” creatures. Campers will use glue, scissors, paper, paint and more to bring their creatures to life.
2-3pm: Paint the Paper Mâché Sail Boats
Campers will learn the drying process of Paper Mâché and then clean up their sail boats and learn to paint them using acrylics.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 13
10-11am: Watercolor Forests
Campers will learn how to draw their forests using an oil pastel or pencil and then learn how to correctly work with watercolors on paper.
11am-12pm: Batik Flags
Campers will learn how to create designs on fiber using glue, textile medium and fiber to create their own flags for their castles and kingdoms.
12-1pm: Lunch w/movie
1-2pm: Fiber Felt Crowns
Campers will learn how to draw and cut fiber to create crowns. Campers will learn how to attach them together using string.
2-3pm: Draw Your Own Wild Thing!
Campers will be instructed on how to draw a variety of shapes and walk students through various steps to draw their own wild thing and then color and learn to blend using oil pastels and graphite.
THURSDAY, JULY 14 
10-11am: Pottery Bird Baths   
11am-12pm: Glazing Bird Baths
12-1pm: Lunch w/movie
1-2pm: Cardboard Masks
Campers will learn how to design and cut their own masks using card board, stickers, markers and more. They will learn various shapes to decide how they would like their mask to look.
2-3pm: Printing with Leaves
Campers will learn the monoprinting process (printmaking) of taking leaves and paint with a gelli plate to create prints.
FRIDAY, JULY 15
10-11am: Painted Canvas Night Sky Image
Campers will draw a night sky on canvas using pencil and then be instructed on how to paint with acrylics and learn a variety of various texture techniques to incorporate in their painting.
11am-12pm: Make Your Own Forests
Campers will get to put together their very own forest terrariums using a glass jar and a variety of materials such as grass, moss, rocks, leaves, twigs and more.
