The pottery making tradition in North America and in Georgia began about 4,500 years ago. Many of the techniques utilized by Southeastern Native Americans prior to the arrival of Europeans are still being used today by traditional potters. This workshop will cover the use of anvils and paddles with the coiling method, as well as the decorating techniques of incise-work, punctuation, form alteration, sculpting, slip painting, and burnishing. The class culminates with a pit-firing of pieces produced by students on Saturday June 7, 2012 behind the Hudson Building.

Call the Turner Center at 229-247-2787 to reserve your spot as space is limited.
