The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts’ opening reception is Monday, Jan. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m., at 527 N. Patterson Street. The Center’s first gallery opening of 2021 features the 14th Annual DrawProject, “She Said, She Said, She Said: A Collage Collective,” and the 2nd Annual Regional Artists Community (RAC) Exhibition. Admission is free.

Artworks donated by area artists to the DrawProject fundraiser are auctioned at this annual event to support art scholarship programs at Valdosta State University. Due to COVID-19, this year’s auction will be a little different. There will be an online auction platform for the bidding process, paired with a physical exhibition at the Turner Center. Also featured are several artists from Connecticut, Maine and Georgia — Evelyn Davis-Walker, Amy Tingle, and Julie Graves Krishnaswami with “She Said, She Said, She Said: A Collage Collective,” present a collection of Graphic Design, Mixed Media, Fabric Art and Encaustic works. The 2nd Annual Regional Artists Community (RAC) Exhibition is also showcased. RAC is an exclusive Turner Center group of local and regional artists and this annual showing is a membership perk.

In addition, the Turner Center’s permanent European porcelain and African Artifacts collections are also on display in the Howard Gallery and Tillman Gallery, respectively. The Center also features a Gift Shop which contains original art made by local and regional artists. The Gift Shop is open any time the galleries are open.

Following COVID-19 CDC recommended best-practice guidelines, Center staff is committed to adhering to necessary procedures to maintain a clean and safe experience within our galleries, which includes several self-sanitizing stations located throughout the galleries. Masks are required for entrance to the Center, and non-contact temperature checks will used as needed.

All exhibits will remain open in the galleries and on the Turner Center website for the public’s enjoyment through Wednesday, Feb. 24. For more information or to become a RAC member, call 229.247.2787 or visit Patrons who need special assistance may contact the Center to make those arrangements.
